Members of Avant Garde presented the
State Convention's Luncheon Program, "Decibels and Designs."
Designs interpreted the sounds that accompanied the
program.

Judy Schafernak's "explosive"
design was accompanied by the sounds of
John Philip Sousa's march. Judy is from
Palatine
|

Martha Wiltsie's "The great
Southwest" with Indian drums and cowboy
songs in the background. Martha is from
Glen Ellyn.

Ana Eng of Elmhurst charmed
the audience with her design accompanied
by the sounds of a thunderstorm.

The sounds of giggles and
laughter, children on a playground and all
the fun suggested this 8' high design with
plenty of color and slinkies. Designer was
Dee Pinski of Kankakee.

Sounds of aliens in outer
space inspired Carole Fenton's 8' high design
She now resides in Texas.

The sounds of kittens and
cats inspired Rosemarie Kachik's rhythmic
design. Rosemarie is from Inverness.

Church chimes and prayer
as interpreted by Veva Schreiber of Lake
Bluff with calla lillies, palm, and agapanthus.

India and the song of the
Snake Charmer provided background sounds
for Dolores Wilt's design. Dolores is from
Grayslake.

Large metal tubes with
large red anthuriums were employed in this
design "the Carillon" by Jan Thelander of
Lake Barrington.

Stephanie Bradley of Rockford
interpreted the sounds of romantic music.

Brenda Schindelar of Crystal
Lake's "Sounds of the Jungle" incorporated
two chartreuse acrylic cubes designed by
Brenda, an 8 foot snake (grapevine) and
numerous tropical blooms.
